Death of Church Member – Doris Utz

UTZ, Doris Irene (née Hamilton) – Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the E.C.U. of the Welland Hospital on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in her 92nd year. Predeceased be her beloved husband Arthur (2002) and her son David (2006). Dear mother of Allan (Rebecca), Carol and daughter-in-law Fereshteh. Cherished grandmother of Stephen (Kristy), Stewart, Tyler and Cora-lee. Great-grandmother of Isabelle and Olivia. Missed by her sisters Mildred, Marjorie and Anna (Glenn). Doris also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly. Doris enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining and above all spending time with family. A heart felt thank you to St. Matthew’s Faith Community for their prayers and support over the years. Friends will be received by the family at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME , 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Friday, November 4th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. The memorial service to honour Doris will take place at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 57 Griffith Street, Welland, on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 am. A private interment will take place on a later date at Overholt Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to St. Mathew’s Lutheran Church. Death of Church Member – Wilfred Duly

 

 DULY, Wilfred Glenister – Passed away peacefully at Valley Park Lodge on Thursday October 27, 2016 at the age of 94. Predeceased by his first wife Marjorie (Marge), his parents Frank and Ella and brother Glenn. He will be greatly missed by his wife Ellen (Sparling) Duly and children Marilyn (Jim) Colbert, Lois (Tom) Peskett, Glenn (Laura) Duly, Catherine (Sean) Cunningham, Carrie (Angelo) Zeffiro, John (Sharon) Cunningham, Linda Cunningham, and Brad (Kathleen) Little. Wilfred also leaves behind grandchildren Stephanie (Jeff) Sarko, Christopher (Erin) Peskett, Cara (Joel) Hutton, Drew (Sara) Hutton, James Little and Daniel Little, Kristina Lohr, Olivia Cunningham and one Great-Grandson Tristan Sarko. Brother George (Marguerite) Duly and many nieces and nephews. Wilfred was a long time retiree from Stelco/US Steel. Longtime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Welland and recently St. Andrews United in Niagara Falls. The families wish to thank Valley Park Lodge for their wonderful care and kindness with Dad. Donations can be made to NHS – Prostate Cancer Program in Wilfred’s honour. Cremation has already taken place. Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME , 5917 Main St. Niagara Falls on Friday November 4th from 2 – 4 pm with a service to follow in the chapel at 4 pm. Death of Church Member – Elsa Genze

e-genzeGENZE, Elsa (nee Liske) – Passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in her 95th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Henry Genze (1993). Cherished mother of Frank and Ed. Dearly missed by her sister Rose Armburst. Predeceased also by her brothers Ted and Fini Liske, sister Ida Kore (Joe) and Lina and Parents Rongold and Bertha Liske. Born on May 16, 1922 in Yugoslovia, Elsa moved to Welland in 1953 where she worked at the Welland Hospital from 1953 – 1955, then worked at the Welland Curling Club from 1955 – 1963. Elsa was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Welland German Club, Welland Senior Citizens Club and the Atlas Retirees Club of Welland. The family would like to extend their heart felt thanks to Ron and Anna Smith for all their care and compassion. Friends will be received at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME , 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Wednesday, November 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service to honour Elsa’s life will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, November 3rd beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Fonthill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
