Death of Church Member – Jeanette Funk

FUNK, (Mary) Jeanette – Our beloved mother, grandmother and aunt left us to dance with the angels on Tuesday, 21 November 2017 in her 88th year. Reunited with her late husband and favourite dance partner, Robert Funk (Welland), Jeanette was greeted at the gates of heaven by her loving parents, Anna and Peter Hucic (Welland), her beautiful, fun-loving sisters and their husbands, Kathleen (Katie) and Jack Ballantyne (Welland), Slava and Anthony (Tony) Kristich (Amherst, NY) and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Violet Hucic (St. Louis, MO). Jeanette will forever dance in the hearts of her daughters, Ana Lorraine Stirling (Randy, St. Anns) and Melanie Funk Laskaris (Pete, Caistor Centre) and her niece, Karon Morehead (Clayton, Port Colborne). Memories of her laughter, wisdom, and lovable expressions will be fondly remembered by the grandchildren she treasured- Kyle and Ryan Stirling and Tim, Hope and George Laskaris. She will be sadly missed by her nephew, Tom Kristich (Cindi, Croton-on-Hudson, NY), her godson Jim Funk (Sarah, Welland), niece Linda Laquerre (Clem, Wainfleet), sister-in-law Margaret Funk and great-niece Allison Morehead (Derek Walker, Toronto). Her memory will be held dear by the youngest members of her family, Max and Dylan Kristich (NY) and Eloise and Liliane Walker (Toronto). Friends and family will remember Jeanette for her years of service with Dr. H.O. Singer (Welland) and as an administrator/owner of Robert H. Funk Ltd. and Lindel Investments. We will always admire her kind, gentle nature, and amazing artistic talents. Jeanette’s paintings, quilting, and knitting, shared with all of us, are reminders of her passion for creating beauty. A world of thanks goes to Dr. Goswami for being both her compassionate physician and family friend for many years. Prayers and thoughts from Pastor Jukka Saarinen of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church were of great comfort to both Jeanette and her family. Thanks also go to the Plymouth Cordage Retirement Residence staff who provided a home away from home for Jeanette. She often spoke with love and affection for them and the friends she met at the Cordage. Thanks to the staff of the Welland Hospital who made Jeanette’s final days comfortable, allowing her family to surround her with the love and support she deserved. A family celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017, PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME , 2000 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold, in the chapel at 2 pm. Donations will be thankfully accepted for St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and the Canadian Diabetes Association. www.pleasantviewcemetery.ca13229854
