Death of Church Member – Fred Gram

GRAM, Frederick Martin – of Welland, Ontario passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on August 30, 2014 at the age of 84. He was the loving husband of Marion (King) Gram and father of four sons, Thomas Gram of Aurora ON, Richard Gram of Toronto, ON, Jeffery Gram of Naperville, Ill. and Russell Gram of Aurora, ON. He will be greatly missed by his eight grandchildren, Sarah, Colin, Austin, Nicole, Kianna, Allison, Matthew, and Katrina. Fred was pre-deceased by his parents Martin and Norma Gram as well as his three brothers, Gordon, John and Robert Gram. Born and raised in Welland, Fred faced adversity in his early years. His perseverance, optimistic outlook on life and the kinship of lifelong friends helped him carve a path to a rewarding life that included an education at Ryerson Polytechnic, a career start with General Electric followed by 36 years of proud service at Ontario Power Generation and Ontario Hydro. He was a lifelong member of Theta Upsilon Omega fraternity from its beginnings at Welland High School through to recent years. He was a curling stalwart, cottage craftsman, master card player, avid reader and a family beacon. Fred loved life, laughter, great friends and his family. They shaped and enriched his life in profound ways and, in turn, he shaped their lives with his gifts of friendship, love, good humour, intelligence and loyalty. The world needs more people like Fred Gram. Sadly, he has now left us, but he leaves an indelible mark and his legacy will be remembered by all he touched. The Funeral Service will be held at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME , 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, September 13th at 2:00 pm. with visitation one hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will follow. Fred requested that we dry our tears and celebrate his life in the spirit of how he lived it- – with smiles, good cheer, and great stories. To honour this wish all friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Fred’s Life the evening of Saturday September 13th starting a 5:00 pm at Sparrow Lakes Golf Course at 105 South Pelham Road, Welland.
