At 7:00 a.m. Easter morning in 1961, the men of St. Matthew?s prepared and served (and cleaned up!) A delicious breakfast of juice, ham, scrambled eggs, toast and jam, and coffee. The event was so well received that it became a well-attended annual
tradition. This year, 2011, marks the 50th anniversary of that first Easter breakfast.
Although many of the men in the photo are no longer with us, still active after 50 years
at this annual event is Jack Galbraith (standing 3rd from the right rear). In addition to
this event, the men of St. Matthew?s host a Ladies? Night Out each year on the Friday
before Mother?s Day under the leadership of Pastor Jukka Saarinen. Needless to say, the women of St. Matthew?s are most appreciative of the excellent culinary efforts of the men of St. Matthew?s.
