WEBER, Jean Kathleen (nee Smith) – passed away on December 8, 2019 at the Welland Hospital in her 86th year. She was predeceased by her husband Calvin in 1989, her son David in 1979, her parents in 1960 and 1971, her sister Joyce in 2012 and by 26 aunts and uncles. She is survived by many first and second cousins. In the past, Jean had been a Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, children’s club teacher and treasurer for the 8th Welland Scouting Mother’s Auxiliary. In 2003, she was honoured with an Ontario Volunteer Award for her volunteer work for 10 years from the Ministry of Citizenship for telephoning shut-ins on a regular basis for Community Support Services of the Niagara Region and for serving as a server for Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered at the Welland Hospital for several years, mainly on the flower cart. Jean was born in Kinloss Township on August 25, 1934 and with her parents and sister moved to Kincardine in May of 1941. She has lived permanently in the Welland area since 1955. Jean was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, December 13, 2019 after 10 a.m. Pastor Jukka Saarinen will conduct her service at 11 o’clock in the Cudney Chapel. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Bethel, Ontario. MEDOVARSKI, Judith (Kovacs) It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I announce the passing of my mother Judith (Kovacs) Medovarski on December 5, 2019 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of the late Andrew Medovarski. Loving mother of only daughter Andrea Medovarski (Owen Lamando) and cherished grandmother of Evan. Dear sister of Ilona Kovacs of Bekescsaba, Hungary. Judith was pre-deceased by her parents, Michael and Judit, sisters Maria and Katalin, and brother Paul, all of Bekescsaba, Hungary. Hill, Rita C.: July 17 1921-November 23 2019. Peacefully in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late John A Hill (2005). Dear mother of Kenneth Hill (Debra) of Oakville and Nora Peter (Les) of Courtland. Predeceased by her sons John Hill (2016), and Richard Hill (2010) and her great grandson Silas Peter (2015). Cherished Grandma to Catherine Fox (Jeff) of Fairview PA, Stephanie Ignagni (Perry) of Paris, Jonathan Peter (Kathryn) of Norwich, Blake Hill (Shamima) of Toronto, Geoffrey Hill (Catherine) of Kanata, Jordan Hill of Calgary, J.J. Rita was a retired employee of Canada Post where she worked for more than 20 years. She was a long time member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Rita enjoyed traveling, music, concerts and shows, and spending time with family. She never missed marking a family birthday with a special card. More recently as a charter member of the Lookout Ridge Retirement Community she enjoyed playing bridge, going to yoga/exercise classes and especially singing in the choir. A special thank you to her many thoughtful friends from Lookout Ridge and the nurses, doctors and staff on 4th floor at Welland Hospital. A funeral service will be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church (57 Griffith Street Welland, Ontario L3B 4G6) on Friday, November 29th at 11a.m.with visitation one hour prior to service time.
