What is the Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR)?

Founded in 1946, Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) is a Lutheran international aid charity that aims to respond to the causes of poverty and suffering. CLWR runs four programs: Humanitarian Response, Food Security and Livelihoods, Educations and Skills, and Refugee Resettlement. Donations can be made through our church or online.

  1. Canadian Charity Intelligence is an excellent resource for looking at the complete financial situation of Canadian charities, listed under  A to Z. It is very revealing about many things, including salaries given (not by name but by amount)  and, my favourite, cents to cause. I have adjusted our giving on that category alone! ( i do understand that some advertising is necessary to promote their cause)

    CLWR seems to be listed this year under Top 100 International Aid. It gets a 5 star rating, with financial transparency check mark +; results reporting B+; demonstrated impact: good; cents to cause: 87%.
