SERFAS, Arnold Philip Passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2019 in his 89th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Serfas (nee Burka), and daughters Gloria Serfas and Rosanne Kalmats. Loving father-in-law of Dan Kalmats. Cherished grandfather of Joel Szigatti (Kristen) and great-grandfather of Abigail Szigatti. Predeceased also by brothers Henry, Rudolph and Albert, and sisters Emma, Marina and Victoria. Sadly missed by his friend of Dan Kalmats (Dianne). Born in Saskatchewan, Arnold moved to Welland in 1956. He worked at Atlas Steels over 32 years, where he retired from in 1988. Aside from his love of bowling and fishing, Arnold was an avid car buff. His prized possession was his 1928 Model A, which he restored from the frame up. Family and friends will be received at the PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME , 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Wednesday, January 23rd from 2 – 4:00 p.m. The memorial service to honour Arnold’s life will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, January 24th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Wellspring Niagara Cancer Support Foundation or St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
