ZIMMERMAN, Gladys Jane (n. Jacobs) – Peacefully at Bluewater Health on Saturday, February 3, 2018, Gladys Jane Zimmerman passed away at the age of 96. Loving and devoted mother of Mary Ann (Bill) Buntrock. Loving grandmother of Aaron Buntrock, and Randi (Luke) MacDonald. Loving great-grandma of Tristan Buntrock, Logan Buntrock and Jessica MacDonald, and great-great-grandma of Arthur MacDonald. Dear sister of Edna (Harold) Braun of Waterloo, Elaine Jacobs, Ruby Jacobs, and Joyce Jacobs, all of Stratford. Predeceased by her husband Lorne, her parents William and Elizabeth Jacobs, her in-laws Henry and Mary (Diehl) Zimmerman, sisters Isabelle Reis, Shirley Schade, Myrtle Moghk, brothers Robert Jacobs, Jim Jacobs, Fred Jacobs, Harry Reis, Howard Schade, Erlin Zimmerman, and Walter Moghk. Gladys spent her childhood in the Milverton area. Once she married Lorne, they lived on the Zimmerman homestead in Brunner, Ontario. Eventually they gave up farming and moved to Welland, Ontario. Gladys worked for Smiley Dry Cleaners, A & W, and as a laundry worker at the Welland General Hospital. She was a dedicated employee retiring from the hospital after having been there for 25 years. After retirement, Gladys and Lorne moved to Sarnia to be closer to their daughter and lived at Green Haven trailer park until Lorne’s passing in 2000, after which, Gladys moved in with her daughter. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and loved her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. At Gladys’ request, cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Lambton Children’s Safety Village or Redeemer Lutheran Church (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME , 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.smithfuneralhome.ca
