BENDER, Cecil Oscar – On Sunday, October 26, 2014 after having lived a wonderful and fulfilling life, Cecil passed away at the age of 81. Loving husband and best friend of Carole Jean (nee Morris) for 56 years. Cherished father of Cindy Belvedere (Rico), Bill Bender, Pam Coring (Jamie) and Dave Bender (Jan). Proud Poppa of Jack and Georgia Bender. Survived by his sister Barbara Lanneval and predeceased by his brother Earl Alvin. Predeceased by his parents the late William Edgar and Nettie Elnora of Port Colborne. Cecil was a cottage enthusiast throughout his life having spent many years at Morgan’s Point and Sauble Beach. He was an employee of Bell Canada for 40 years and more recently Cecil’s involvement as a working partner in WRB Sales for the last 25 years. His community involvement was extensive including; Board of Director, Mapleview Charities, St. Matthews Church- where he was an active member and Chair of the Endowment Committee and was a lifelong member and volunteer at the YMCA. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY (2000 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold 905-892-1699) from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Private interment to take place at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to Mapleview Charities (local youth based charity) and St. Matthews Lutheran Church (Endowment Fund) would be appreciated.
