TUFTS, Marie – passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 in her 93rd year at the Fort Erie Douglas Memorial Hospital. Born in Port Colborne on December 24, 1921, Marie was the beloved wife of 69 years to Murray and outstanding mother to Doug and Ron and daughters-in-law Jennifer and Juliette. Marie is sadly missed by her grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Callahan, Brittany and Hailey and great grandchild Cody. Marie was predeceased by her sisters Margaret and Carol and brothers Frank and Chuck. Marie is a lifelong member of the Crowland Women’s Institute and St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. A very special thank you to the staff of Gilmore Lodge, Fort Erie for their constant care during her time living at Gilmore Lodge and to the staff of Douglas Memorial Hospital for their outstanding end of life care and attention. A very special thank you to Dr. Claudius Che who has provided continuous care for Marie with respect and dedication. The family will receive friends and relatives at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. till time of service at 11:30 a.m. Private family interment to be held at a later date.
